Is your Canon iPF series plotters saying “Call service E161-403E” or “Replace Print Head”?

Here is a service tip for your Canon imagePROgraf (iPF) plotter. The print head  needs replacement after a long time in service.  They have a 12 month warranty and Canon recommends replacement at that interval. When it is starting to fail/clog, the symptoms vary. You might notice the plotter automatically performs a head cleaning every time you print, sometimes multiple times; or it might just display a message :Replace Print Head”; or you might get “Call service E161-403E” when trying to print. Canon (and HP) print heads are “thermal inkjet” meaning that ink is ejected using a tiny steam blast. These fire thousands of times per second, and like anything else, they wear out.

We carry the Canon PF-03, PF-04, and PF-05 print heads for all Canon iPF plotters, and have a lot of experience replacing them, plus a few other items that should be cleaned, lubricated, or replaced at the same time so the print head lasts as long as possible and to avoid more service issues in the near future.

You can replace it yourself, or have an expert do it. Your choice.
